Wow, the “John with Ringo Home Recordings” blow my mind. If anything, they prove John was always “Avant Guard” and the idea of Yoko ‘corrupting’ John is rubbish. You can actually hear some of the same sound effects used in the Two Virgins recordings here. This reminds me of Ween, or other bands that record every type of music imaginable, in a comic fashion. This is very similar.
It’s too bad stuff like that wasn’t released. They would have been perfect to apply to their “paperback records” concept…which WAS a great concept. Had Zapple Records released a few of these amusing recordings, it might have gone further. These tapes seem far more accessible to the ‘average’ fan (Ie fans who didn’t buy Electronic Sound and Life With The Lions) than what was released by Zapple.
